Korbe Otis
I’m Korbe Otis and I’m from Littleton, Colorado. I’m a sophomore outfielder on the UofL softball team majoring in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. As a college athlete, I’ve had a long journey to get me to where I am now at the University of Louisville, and I’ve learned many valuable lessons along the way. One of them being the importance of understanding who I am as an individual and not defining myself just by my athletic abilities. Better understanding myself off the field has made me a better athlete on the field.
I think many athletes define themselves by their sports or by their athletic abilities, but it is important to understand that we are all people first before we are athletes. My mission is to encourage and help other athletes discover who they are as people, outside of their sport. By nurturing who I am as a person, I have become a better athlete and a better person. I define myself by my relationship with God, and ground myself by giving all the glory to Him.
I’ll be using a portion of the proceeds from my merchandise sold on this website to benefit the faith based organizations in my life that have helped me to understand that I am a person first, and an athlete second!
If you would like to support my mission, check out my products on this website and share them with your friends and family! If you have a similar story, I would love to hear how it helped define you, or if you are an athlete struggling with finding their identity beyond athletics please reach out and I would love to hear from you! My social media channels are listed below.
One of the most important life lessons I have learned is that everybody’s race looks different both as a person and an athlete. Don’t compare yourself to someone running next to you, just focus on your race and run! I’d like to leave you with a couple of my favorite bible verses that I find inspirational.
Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
Acts 20:24 “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
